Cookie crisp cereal has been around for a long time, and for good reason. I couldn't find a more recent ad online, but the marketing for the cereal is very good. they play on the emotional appeals of the young. they use their animations to tell a little part of a story each time to keep the little kids entertained. they are also able a very logical company with their cereal. Little kids like sugary snacks and what better way then to use little cookie shaped morsels. General Mills the maker of this cereal has made many other successful cereals and knows what they are doing when it comes to food production. I have never heard of general mills contaminating anything large scale and their food safety adds much credibility to their cereal that they produce. As i mentioned before their cartoon ads tell a story in each commercial. in the comercials they have a cop and robber, these cartoons teach the distinction of good and evil and teach the kids to be good and you will prevail.
http://www.blogofhilarity.com/JoeCamel-beach.jpg In this picture we see Joe Camel relaxing at a beach smoking a cigarette. The tobacco industry isn't suppose to market to younger kids, but i think that this add is a direct marking add to draw younger kids into smoking. This add will be looked at from that perspective. As an add for younger kids this add is quite effective at keeping their attention and getting them interested in smoking. Kids are drawn to animated images and also as kids get older want to look and act like adults and this camel looks like an older person who's smoking. This add works well with grabbing young children's attention. This add is a some what logical approach to how to get new buyers for their product. It is not a morally right at but a logical way to get new customers for their product. As for any credibility for this add i think that it is lacking because if they are going for adults a cartoon character isn't good advertising and looses them credibility. then if they are going for kids, marketing younger people looses them credibility also because the kids they are marketing are not old enough to smoke and becomes bad practices by camel.
http://www.cinema.com/image_lib/3398_heading.jpg The movie The Patriot released in 2000 is based on the American Revolution. This movie relies heavily on Pathos to draw the viewer in. Some of its stronger moments of Pathos is the general story line because of living in America we have a knowledge of this and its changes that it made. Another strong use of Pathos is Mel Gibson's desire to keep his family safe which most parents would agree with. I talked about this with a history teacher and said the way the things happened in here wasn't very accurate. so i belive the credibility on this movie is lacking, but for the average movie goer historically accuracy isn't that important as long as the story line is able to keep you drawn in. I think that this movie though is very logical in the flow of movie. The actions of the lead and anti-hero make sense and don't seem erratic or ill thought, but as how some in real life may handle the current situations.

Synthesis

The two texts that I will be using is The allegory of the Cave the prequel to the dune series called the Legends of dune which is composed of three books called The Butlerian Jihad, The Machine Crusade, and The Battle of Corrin.

Their are some similarities between the two texts. They both deal with how the people became complacent with how their lives have gone and stopped looking for something new. Both have how people have become enslaved by a some sort of captor, people who see something new and then have to make a choice of following it or letting it pass them by.

Some differences are that the
Legends of dune is in future time where their enslavers are machines and not people. The biggest difference in the two stories is that you know for certain that the people are fighting back for change and to reclaim their freedom. In the allegory it seems the people found out that their is more out there, but are not sure about if they are ready and even want the change from what they have known their whole lives.

joy synth

"Joy is something that brings happiness to a person."-Alex

"Nothing is better then hanging out with your friends while goofing off."-Yours Truly

Magic time- Joy is bringing happiness to you and your friends at any given time while doing anything.

joy

Just going for a ride, racing down the streets, feeling that rush of acceleration then maintaining that break neck pace. Nothing is better then hanging out with your friends while goofing off. Helping in making this video alone was a lot of fun, and an adventure. If the group gets sponsored for stunting then going around to competitions with the gang will be worthwhile

Allegory of the cave

The image “http://blogs.usyd.edu.au/theoryandpractice/allegory_of_the_cave.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
The Allegory of the cave by Plato is a piece of literature that will really get you to think about society and our own personal lives. The above picture shows how the cave looked. The caves main purpose is to instruct their captives on what the world is, but to the captives this information is the real world to them they know no other life so they take the shadows to be what these things are. The captors are suppose to be philosophers of a sort doing like this ongoing experiment on these people. I saw these captors to be like a modern day government telling its people what they should know and what they should believe. Another insight that I had was that these captors were a lot of tlak but very little action they talked about all of these options about what they can do but they never really implemented what they talked about. It seems that most modern day governments do about this same sort of thing talking about various things but very rarely taking action to what they have talked about.
